Our dear aunt and last of the Sutton siblings, Regina “Jeanie” Joy Marshall passed away at the age of 81, on Monday, June 13, 2022.
She was the sister of Lois Deer, Gary “Tuff” Sutton, and William Sutton, all familiar to Brothers & Co. followers. She was an important part of the event that spawned the first Brothers & Co performance, the Sutton Family Reunion of 1995, in Xenia, Ohio. She and Lois worked to give a nephew, Larry Sutton, who has also passed, a fun, 50th birthday party, featuring his uncles and cousins at their musical best. She took pride in her music and participating in the Kettering Banjo Society and Beavercreek Strummers.
She taught Gery how to play different music and she and Uncle Wayne (Wesley) came out to visit with us on a regular basis at our peak in the 1990s and early 2000s. Sadly, she was the last of Lois’s siblings to leave us and she will be missed.
Jeanie was born November 3, 1940, in Proctorville, Ohio to the late John and Jennie Sutton. She was also preceded in death by four brothers; Vernon, Lyndal, William “Lester”, and Gary “Tuff”, three sisters; Ruth, Isabel, and Lois, husband Wesley, and their son Kevin. Regina is survived by her son James (J. R.) and her grandson Kevin II.
Well-loved by many, Regina was very family-oriented and loved to play the piano. She was a long-time member of the Kettering Banjo Society and the Beavercreek Strummers. The family would like to thank everyone who has helped along the way and is forever grateful for your love.
A visitation for Jeanie will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Jeanie will be laid to rest in Mount Zion Park, Beavercreek, Ohio.
